An Ancient Medicine for the

Body-Mind-Spirit

What is Acupuncture

WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?

Acupuncture is a 3,000-year-old form of Chinese medicine that accesses energy, called Qi ("chee"), within energetic channels of the body through the use of acupuncture needles. Tiny needles (thinner than a cat’s whisker) are inserted into acupuncture points along the energetic channels to restore and promote balance and functioning of all the body systems. Acupuncturists can determine where to place needles and what needle techniques to use through feeling pulses, looking at the tongue, and speaking with the patient to understand what symptoms they are experiencing.

WHAT CAN ACUPUNCTURE HELP WITH?

There is nothing that Acupuncture cannot help with! Symptoms arise from energetic blockages in the body, just like a damming of a stream or body of water. Once the obstruction is addressed everything begins to flow through optimally again. When the balance of energies are restored through Acupuncture, all of the systems of the body begin to communicate and work efficiently again, which helps to alleviate pain and resolve symptoms.

WHAT DO I COMMONLY TREAT?

I truly enjoy treating all kinds of conditions, but more importantly, I came to this medicine to treat any condition that is causing pain & suffering. There is a wide array of areas that I treat including addiction, anxiety, arthritis, back pain, chronic fatigue syndrome, chronic pain, depression, digestive disorders, headaches, insomnia, weight management, infertility, and women’s health. I also treat more acute conditions such as the common cold & flu, sore throats, and various symptoms of nasopharyngitis. I have a passion for all of these areas, but I am not limited to treating any of them. The most important thing to understand is that Eastern Medicine diagnoses things completely differently than Western Medicine. When treating with Acupuncture, a Western Diagnosis is not as important as the symptoms you are experiencing and the root imbalance in your system. I have successfully treated numerous conditions with the same root imbalance. The overall aim of treatment is to restore the body’s equilibrium by addressing the cause of your symptoms. What I want you to know is that you can confidently trust me to take care of you as my patient and to provide the highest level of care that you need. There's nothing more upsetting than having a condition and not knowing who can help you. I understand that.

Balance. Wellness. Thrive.

"We must strive to see people not only as they present themselves in illness, but more importantly, as they would be in perfect health and balance, in full discovery of their true nature, unique in body, mind & spirit."

ACUPUNCTURE
MOXABUSTION

Tiny needles are inserted into acupuncture points along the energetic channels to restore the natural flow of Qi (energy, pronouned "chee") and promote balance and functioning of all the body systems. Needles inserted into acupuncture points are used to call more energy to an area or to move too much energy out of an area of the body.

Moxabustion is a form of heat therapy, used along with Acupuncture, in which dried plant materials called "Moxa" (Mugwort) are burned on or very near the surface of the skin. The intention is to warm and invigorate the flow of Qi in the body and dispel certain pathogenic influences.

CUPPING
GUA SHA

Cupping Therapy is a Traditional Chinese Medicine technique using glass or plastic cups that create a negative pressure or suction over the muscles and energetic channels. Cupping is used to treat pain caused by stagnation in the body or to clear pathogenic factors.

Gua Sha is a Traditional Chinese Medicine technique that uses a tool to scrap up "Sha" or "Petechia", which are tiny purple or red spots that show up from blood stagnation in the subcutaneous tissues. Gua Sha is used to treat pain, remove toxins, improve circulation & move stuck energy.
